Leadership Transition: Honoring Ruth Levine and Welcoming Jake Morowitz

It is with a mix of deep appreciation and a touch of sadness that we announce an important leadership transition.

After more than a decade of extraordinary service, Ruth Levine has stepped down as Chair of the Board of Directors, passing the baton to Jacob (Jake) Morowitz. During her tenure, Ruth partnered closely with Executive Director and CEO Jonathan Brent to launch transformative initiatives that drove unprecedented growth for the organization, including the successful launch of the $40 million Centennial Campaign.

We are profoundly grateful for Ruth’s vision, dedication, and steady leadership. We are also delighted that she will continue to serve on the Board, where she will remain a vital source of enthusiasm, support, and inspiration for our community.

Jake steps into the role of Board Chair, having served on the Board since 1995 and, most recently, as a member of the Finance and Executive Committees. Reflecting on the transition, Jake shared:

“I am honored to have been chosen to lead YIVO as the organization enters its second century. I look forward to building on the remarkable foundation Ruth has helped create.”

Please join us in thanking Ruth for her exceptional leadership and in welcoming Jake to this new role.
